Laser not firing properly anymore

Kevin

Hello everyone, so recently (yesterday) my laser module became extremely weak to a point where 5% for focus is barely visible. The odd thing is when I’m tweaking the setting and alter $30 from its previous working value of 1000 back to 255, the laser pointing while focusing @ 5% is beaming strong again, however burning still doesn’t work at all. I tried to replace the laser cable and to even use a different controller, same results. LaserGRBL behaves pretty much the same. Also tried to clean the laser lens, same results. At this point I’m afraid that the culprit is my generic laser module however would appreciate any advice on what else could be checked before ordering a new one. Thanks!

  • If you have a voltmeter, check the pwm driving the laser module. At 50% it read half the pwm voltage. Usually it’s 5V, so at 50% you should read 2.5V… If this varies, it will vary the output of the laser… This will determine if it’s the before the laser module (Lightburn and/or controller) or the module itself… Make sure the $30 variables and S-Value Max is properly set.
