Can I install both proximity sensors and mechanical limit switches on each axis of a Ruida RDC 6445S controller? I'd like the proximity sensors to act as the primary reference, with mechanical switches as a safety backup if the sensors fail. The manual doesn't specify—anyone with experience on this?

The RDC6445S controller provides only one pair of limit switch interfaces per axis. More importantly, the internal processing logic for this pair of interfaces is based on a divided-responsibility configuration rather than a redundant one.
You can use any combination of switches. The output signal must be "Low" whenever the sensor is triggered.
