Dr. Torsten Derr was born in 1970 in Bremen, Germany and obtained a Master's and Doctoral degree in Chemistry from the University of Bremen. He started his career at Bayer AG in 1997 as a polymer research and development manager. In 2003, he joined LANXESS AG and held various leadership positions, including Head of Supply Chain and Business Excellence and Chief Business Officer. In 2016, he was transferred to Saltigo subsidiary to manage the fine chemicals business, and subsequently became the CEO of SGL Carbon in 2020.
