On March 14, 2000, Trumpf established its first company in China - Trumpf Metal Sheet Products Co., Ltd., headquartered in Taicang, 50 kilometers northwest of Shanghai. Nowadays, Taicang has become a global strategic stronghold for the company. 25 years ago, this production base was originally used to demonstrate sheet metal processing production for Chinese enterprises.

In the seventh year after the success of this move, "Trumpf Machine Tool Co., Ltd." was established. The company engaged in the assembly, production, and sales of machine tools, with 77 employees in China at that time. Nowadays, Trumpf's production base in Taicang covers an area of 30000 square meters, producing machine tools, lasers, and electronic components, with a total of 940 employees. The company has a strong sales and service team, actively expanding its market and developing some laser technology products in China. Important milestones in Trumpf's development in China include the establishment of the Laser Technology Division in 2005 and the establishment of the Laser Application Center in Taicang in 2008, which is now one of only two laser application centers in China. To further cultivate the Chinese market, Trumpf has continuously increased its investment in Taicang and other regions, and acquired a majority stake in Chinese machine tool manufacturer Jin Fangyuan in 2013, further consolidating its leading position in the industry.

Trumpf's 25 years in Taicang is a milestone. I want to thank all the people who have contributed to the development of the company in China Dr. Yang Gang, President of Trumpf China, said. Trumpf's subsidiary in China will celebrate its 25th anniversary through Technology Day and highlight the anniversary in the promotion surrounding Technology Day and other events.

As of the end of the 2023/2024 fiscal year, Trumpf had a total of 1525 employees in China's Taicang, Shanghai, Beijing, Yangzhou (Jiangsu Jinfangyuan factory area), Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Dongguan. In the previous fiscal year, Trumpf achieved a turnover of 615 million euros in China.
