Why Does My Illustrator SVG Import with Different Measurements on a Laser Cutter?

I’m not sure if this is the cause of your issue, but I know that some proprietary software (such as Glowforge) can only read SVG 1.0 files, while Adobe Illustrator saves files as SVG 1.1 by default.

Sometimes the additional data stored in the file can cause problems when the program tries to open it.

You can choose which SVG version to use in the save options dialog that appears when exporting or saving the file in Illustrator.

This may be more of an Adobe Illustrator issue rather than an SVG issue. I’ve never had this problem with SVG files created in Inkscape.
