In RDWorksV8, the canvas has negative coordinates at the top-left corner, but the machine's top-left corner is positive. How can I unify the coordinate systems?

Our current setup uses an RDC6442G controller with RDWorksV8 as the host software.

I have thoroughly reviewed the full list of manufacturer parameters, but there is no dedicated setting for the homing direction. There is also no way to invert the homing direction by setting a negative homing speed—the firmware on this board is factory-locked, and the homing cycle always starts with a positive-direction move.

The issue is that my machine's origin sensor flag is mounted on the negative side of the axis. When I perform a homing cycle, the gantry runs directly into the hard limit stop.

 

I've identified two possible workarounds so far:

1. Relocate the mechanical limit flag to the positive side.

2. Reverse the motor direction for the entire axis, but this would also flip the manual jogging direction, making everyday operation awkward and counterintuitive.

 

I'd like to ask the community: are there any other tuning methods beyond these two options? Is there a way to change only the homing direction via firmware parameters or other settings while keeping the manual jogging directions unchanged? I'd really appreciate any practical solutions or insights from those who have dealt with a similar issue.

  • 1. Set the software machine origin based on the actual hardware setup.
    2. When homing, use the panel coordinates to confirm direction polarity. (Higher coordinate values mean the axis is moving further from the origin.)
    3. Leave limit switch settings as default — they're wired to X-negative or Y-negative.
    4. Lower the homing speed during debugging.
    5. To test limit switches, go to Panel > Diagnostics and manually trigger each switch.
    6. Both the panel and software indicate machine origin as 00.
