Recently, the International Electrotechnical Commission Electronic Display Technology Committee (IEC TC110) International Standards Conference was held in Qingdao, attracting more than 120 experts, scholars, and technical representatives from around the world, including Japan, South Korea, and the United States. At the IEC TC110 conference, laser display technology has won wide recognition from international experts and scholars due to its many advantages such as health and eye protection, energy conservation and environmental protection, color realism, and cinema level immersive experience.

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the world's earliest established international electrical standardization organization, responsible for international standardization work in the fields of electrical and electronic engineering. The IEC TC110 working group meeting is once again held in China after a decade, marking the enhancement of Chinese companies' international discourse power in the field of display technology and sending a strong signal that the display industry is accelerating its restructuring towards health and environmental protection.

At the IEC TC110 conference, the Secretary General of IEC TC110 and expert in display technology, Yoshihiko Shibata, stated that "laser displays have rich colors, are green and energy-saving, and are healthy and eye friendly. Laser TV light sources do not contain harmful substances such as mercury, and have higher display performance and lower energy consumption. Laser displays are currently an ideal display solution, a green and healthy choice, and will become the mainstream of the next generation of display technology.

Shunichi Honshita, a senior expert in the Laser Display Working Group of the International Electrotechnical Commission's Electronic Display Technology Committee, believes that laser displays have impressive advantages such as rich color gamut, high light source conversion efficiency, and are more eye friendly. He stated that laser display is expected to surpass traditional display solutions and become the preferred choice for future home displays.

Under the promotion of Hisense, the IEC established the Laser Display Standards Working Group (IEC TC110WG10) in 2014, with Dr. Liu Weidong, Chief Scientist of Hisense Video (600060), serving as the convener, leading the development of multiple international standards. As of the end of 2024, Hisense has applied for a total of 2806 domestic and foreign technology patents in the field of laser display, with the number of three color technology patent applications ranking first in the industry.

Liu Weidong believes that standards are the "passport" for Chinese enterprises to enter the international market and are very important for promoting their internationalization strategy. Nowadays, in the field of laser display, China has taken the lead in technology, products, and standards. Accelerating the standardization process of laser display will help Chinese enterprises to explore the international market.
At present, IEC TC110 is promoting 48 projects, of which more than 20 are led by Chinese enterprises or organizations. With China's continuous advancement in display technology and products, China has made increasing contributions to the formulation of international standards, "said Jiayan Zhiyuan.

Over the past decade, Hisense has successively launched world leading products such as full-color laser TVs, 8K laser TVs, and foldable laser TVs, driving the trend of high-end large screen TV replacements. For example, the foldable screen design of Hisense laser TV has broken through the bottleneck of the 100 inch large screen household restriction; The application of spectral selection technology has increased the average brightness of laser TVs to over 1000 nits.

In terms of market, Hisense firmly holds the dominant position in the global laser TV market. In 2024, Hisense Laser TV's global shipment share reached 65.8%, ranking among the top in the world for six consecutive years, and successfully entering the high-end overseas market, becoming a shining business card for China's display industry to "go global, go global, go global".

The future potential of laser display is enormous and is expected to develop in the direction of ultra miniaturization and integration, "said John, a display technology expert from Finland Dr. Bergqvist analyzed. During this conference, Hisense showcased a series of laser TV products that left a deep impression on him with their exquisite appearance and excellent picture quality.

At the IEC TC110 conference, green display technology represented by laser display has sparked discussions among experts in the global display field. China led laser display technology is leveraging its advantages of green, low-carbon, healthy and environmentally friendly to create a new future for the global display industry and reshape the new pattern of the global display industry.
