Recently, Trumpf confirmed the relevant data for the fiscal year 2024-2025 and released further news and comments regarding the establishment of a new development partnership with Rohde&Schwarz focusing on military drones.

The preliminary figures were first released in July, 2025, when CEO Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller stated that “the lowest point has been reached.” The company generated sales of €4.3 billion (FY 2023/24: €5.2 billion), with an order intake of €4.2 billion (previous year: €4.6 billion).

Drone developments are coming

In this week’s update, Leibinger-Kammüller said, “The slowing global economy and geopolitical uncertainties have led to continued significant restraint in new investments among customers worldwide in the past fiscal year. We are seeing cautious signs of improvement. For example, our order intake has not decreased for several months and is stabilizing at a level that is still undeniably too low.”

In its home market of Germany, sales fell by 15 percent to around €700 million (previous year: €824 million). Germany thus remained the strongest single market in terms of sales. Trumpf also recorded a decline in sales in the US. These fell by 17 percent to approximately €660 million (previous year: €796 million). Despite a decline by 22 percent, China was still the strongest Asian single market with sales of around €480 million (previous year: €615 million).

Presenting the figures at the company’s headquarters in Ditzingen, Germany, Leibinger-Kammüller expressed cautious optimism about the outlook for the current fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, saying that Trumpf sees opportunities in individual markets and business areas.

“These include, for example, electromobility, semiconductors, and electronics, as well as our smart factories and services in the machine tools sector. Overall, it is to be expected that many customers will renew their machinery after a long period and will also take advantage of our offerings in the areas of networked manufacturing and artificial intelligence.”

Notably, the company also made a new announcement in relation to the current geopolitical situations: “Trumpf has also decided, following intensive discussions among its shareholders and on the Managing Board, to extend its offering of laser and manufacturing systems to make technologies for defense solutions available to its customers in the future.”

The basic prerequisite for this is that these solutions are exclusively defensive in nature, meaning that they are not directed against people. “Discussions are currently underway with industrial partners in Germany to elaborate the details,” said the company’s statement.

Rohde & Schwarz and Trumpf to collaborate on drone defense

Trumpf and Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) are to collaborate on the development of drone defense solutions. The plan is to combine Trumpf’s high-energy laser technology with R&S’s expertise in electromagnetic spectrum control and radar sensor technology. The goal is to detect, track, and neutralize drones.

Dr. Alexander Orellano, of R&S said, “This collaboration combines the strengths of both companies to address critical security needs. Investment in European defense, and in particular in drone defense technology, is of paramount importance.”

“Our laser technology, our expertise in beam guidance and shaping, and our internally anchored supply chain of system-critical subcomponents offer a highly innovative solution for drone defense,” said Dr. Hagen Zimer, Trumpf’s board member responsible for laser technology.
