Recently, German laser giant Trumpf released data for the fiscal year 2023/24. The latest financial report shows that the group's sales decreased by 4% and order volume decreased by 10% in the fiscal year 2023/24.

Despite these setbacks, Germany has become the company's strongest single market for the first time in many years, highlighting a shift in market dynamics.

At the end of this fiscal year, both the sales and order volume of Trumpf Group decreased.

According to preliminary calculations, the company's sales revenue for the fiscal year 2023/24 (reported on June 30, 2024) was 5.2 billion euros, slightly lower than last year's record breaking 5.4 billion euros.

However, the decline in order volume was even more rapid, with a 10% decrease in order volume to 4.6 billion euros in the year ending June 2024. By comparison, last year was 5.1 billion euros, while the previous year was 5.6 billion euros.

Sales in Germany
According to market analysis by different geographical regions, in the German market this fiscal year, the sales growth of Express was the most significant: an increase of about 4.5%, reaching 815 million euros (compared to 779 million euros last year). This is the first time in many years that Germany has become the largest single market for Transfast.

However, in the US market, Trumpf failed to catch up with the strong growth of the previous year. Sales decreased by approximately 12%, to around 790 million euros. (Last year: 899 million euros). The strongest Asian market is China, with sales of approximately 615 million euros (compared to 602 million euros last year).

Macro environment affects business operations
Nicola Leibinger Kamm ü ller, CEO of Transfast, attributed the latest performance results to global trends rather than specific issues with the company's business. She stated, "The global economic downturn and geopolitical uncertainty have led to significant hesitation among many customers regarding new investments. Continued weak demand will also affect the coming months of this fiscal year. Transfast has continued to respond to this economic crisis through clear measures to improve returns.

In addition, data shows that the current number of employees in the entire group has increased to approximately 18550. As of June 30, 2024, the company employed approximately 9100 employees in Germany, with around 6000 of them working at its headquarters in Diqingen, Germany.
Trumpf will release detailed data for the latest fiscal year, including profits and specific data for its laser business, when it releases its annual report in October.

  • Scientists develop flat-topped laser beams to overcome Gaussian distribution limitations

The beam emitted by almost all laser systems follows the Angle pattern of Gaussian distribution. The Gaussian irradiance distribution means that irradiance has a smooth peak at the center point and slowly declines toward the edge. In theory, the irradiance level of a Gaussian distribution can never reach zero, which means that the distribution can expand indefinitely. This phenomenon in the laser ...
