Starting from January 1, 2025, Dr. Torsten Derr will take over as the CEO of SCHOTT Group.

The new CEO of SCHOTT Group previously served as the CEO of SGL Carbon SE.

Starting from January 1, 2025, Dr. Torsten Derr will officially assume the position of CEO of SCHOTT Group. SCHOTT Group announced in October 2024 that Dr. Torsten Derr will succeed Dr. Frank Heinrich, who has successfully led SCHOTT Group for 11 years. Dr. Frank Heinrich will retire on December 31, 2024. Dr. Torsten Derr has been serving as the CEO of SGL Carbon since 2020 and will join SCHOTT Group after his contract ends. In his new position located in Mainz, Germany, he will be responsible for SCHOTT Group's glass tube business department, as well as group functions such as research and development, compliance and legal, human resources, marketing and communication, and strategic development. In addition, he will also serve as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SCHOTT Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of SCHOTT.

Dr. Torsten Derr was born in 1970 in Bremen, Germany and obtained a Master's and Doctoral degree in Chemistry from the University of Bremen. He started his career at Bayer AG in 1997 as a polymer research and development manager. In 2003, he joined LANXESS AG and held various leadership positions, including Head of Supply Chain and Business Excellence and Chief Business Officer. In 2016, he was transferred to Saltigo subsidiary to manage the fine chemicals business, and subsequently became the CEO of SGL Carbon in 2020. At SGL Carbon headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany, he successfully drove this publicly listed company focused on carbon based technologies to achieve profitable development.
