Recently, Coherent Corp. announced the launch of the EDGE FL TM high-power fiber laser series, tailored specifically for cutting applications in the machine tool industry. The power levels of the EDGE FL series range from 1.5kW to 20kW, redefining the balance between value and performance to meet the growing demand for high-power, reliable laser sources in fiber laser cutting.

With the increasing demand for higher power and more flexible laser systems in the global market, the EDGE FL series offers all the performance but at a low price. As a pioneer in the field of laser technology and components, Coherent designed this fiber laser from scratch for machine tool manufacturers who pursue reliability and economy.

The main features of the EDGE FL series are high cost-effectiveness, high power, good beam quality, and low energy consumption, while also integrating comprehensive solutions customized for the needs of machine tool manufacturers.

Martin Seifert, Vice President of High Power Fiber Laser Business Unit, stated that the EDGE FL series is the pinnacle of our innovation in reimagining the fiber laser category from a blank slate. The birth of this new platform is due to our profound expertise in key components of fiber lasers. Coherent has a global network of manufacturing and support capabilities, providing high-value and high-performance solutions to machine tool manufacturers around the world. In addition, we have launched a new EDGE CUT kit that integrates our excellent EDGE FL laser with custom cutting heads, further enhancing the value Coherent provides to machine tool integrators.

Dr. Giovanni Barbarossa, Chief Strategy Officer and President of the Materials Department, added: This transformative product can only be brought to the market through the unparalleled scale of the world's largest diode pump chip supplier, combined with all the fiber laser technology and expertise we gained at the establishment of our new coherent company.

In addition to cutting heads, the EDGE FL series seamlessly integrates with Coherent's extensive fiber optic cables, couplers, and process optics to provide a complete laser cutting solution.
