TRUMPF introduced its TruMatic 5000 manufacturing unit and new SheetMaster automatic loading and unloading device technology at the 2023 Blechexpo Metal Plate Processing Exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany.

Users of the new system will benefit from fully automatic laser cutting, punching, and forming capabilities. The new SheetMaster device can achieve fully automated material flow within the manufacturing unit - from loading and unloading machines to removing finished parts.

Steffen Wagner, Product Manager of TRUMPF, said, "TruMatic 5000 is another example of TRUMPF's market leadership in the field of interconnected manufacturing. This solution aims to seamlessly integrate with independent intelligent factories, improving efficiency for users throughout the entire process chain.

TRUMPF's new machine is equipped with a 6-kilowatt fiber laser to maximize productivity. While saving energy, this type of laser can also achieve impressive speed in cutting metal sheet parts.

The system is equipped with a lowering mold to prevent parts from being scratched during the stamping process. The TruMatic 5000 punching head is also equipped with a patented TRUMPF power driver called DeltaDrive, which uses approximately 30% less energy.

SheetMaster supports fully automated material flow
TRUMPF has achieved fully automated material flow in TruMatic 5000. This improvement is achieved by the new SheetMaster technology, which uses fixtures to handle components in the manufacturing unit. The suction cups on the gripper of the new SheetMaster are monitored by sensors and can be activated separately.

This makes the gripper operation more flexible, accelerates the workpiece processing speed, and saves valuable time, especially for small batches. In addition, SheetMaster can also be connected to an automated STOPA storage system, which can automatically provide raw materials for manufacturing units. The system can also stack and classify parts without human intervention.

Other advantages of the new SheetMaster include its ability to eject cutting and punching components from the manufacturing unit. Then, the parts can be directly transported to the next stage of processing, such as bending, deburring, or grinding. This reduces non production time and improves workshop efficiency.

Small batch production to achieve maximum productivity
The automation technology of TruMatic 5000 also includes ToolMaster, a tool changer that can accommodate up to 90 different tool boxes and automatically switch between multiple stamping and forming tools. ToolMaster enables users to produce small batches, high mixing batches of parts without the need for manual machine reconfiguration. It also includes an automatic nozzle replacement and nozzle inspection function. This can prevent accidental shutdown at night, such as due to nozzle damage.

The debut of Blechexpo in 2023 marks the commercial release of TRUMPF's new laser drilling machine, which will bring special benefits to enterprises hoping to improve productivity to a new level through automation. It is applicable to companies that have already introduced connections in their workshops, as well as those currently planning to do so. Typical application areas include industrial kitchens, control cabinet manufacturing, and the furniture industry.
