Coherent Corporation, the leader in erbium-doped fiber amplifier pumped laser technology for deployment in optical networks, announced today the launch of the industry's first pumped laser module in a 10 pin butterfly package with an output power of 1200 mW.

The rapid development of optical communication technology is reaching the theoretical limit of fiber capacity and driving the expansion of transmission windows to the extended C and L bands. Coherent's 1200 mW pump laser can provide the additional power required to amplify the additional channels supported by these next-generation ultra wideband optical transmission systems, while meeting the strict reliability requirements of these advanced networks.

This is the highest power commercial pump laser module on the market, fully qualified and now available, "said Dr. Beck Mason, Executive Vice President of the Telecommunications Business Unit. Along with the new dual chip pump laser module we previously released on OFC 2023, this 1200 mW module provides us with a leading combination of high-power pump solutions. Customers can trust Coherent Company as a reliable pump laser supplier for generations. This 1200 mW pump is built on chip development and module packaging solutions, which have been continuously improving over the past 28 years, The shipment volume is close to 8 million units.

The pump laser module provides standard and low-power versions, allowing designers to overcome the increased losses in complex amplifiers and system architectures, and achieve higher performance, more cost-effective, and reliable amplifier designs. This product provides a power specification of up to 1200 mW and can provide a single pump laser solution in applications that historically require two independent lasers.

Coherent's extensive pump laser modules include cooled and non cooled designs, as well as single chip and dual chip configurations. Together with our active and passive components, as well as erbium-doped fibers, Coherent provides a full range of first-class components for amplifier designers.

The relevant company will participate in ECOC 2023 in Glasgow, Scotland from October 2nd to 4th, with booth number 406. At this meeting, relevant companies will showcase their latest members of their extensive portfolio of differentiated solutions for telecommunications and data communication optical networks.
