Skylark Lasers is a designer and manufacturer of single frequency diode pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers, headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland. Recently, the company has received a new round of financing worth millions of pounds to drive international expansion and advance its product development roadmap.

Led by long-term key investment partners at Par Equity and Scottish Enterprise, the investments reflect strong confidence in Skylark Lasers’ growth potential and the global demand for its advanced laser systems.

Derek Shaw, Director of Entrepreneurship & Investment, Scottish Enterprise, commented, “This investment highlights our dedication to supporting the growth of ambitious businesses in Scotland. By helping these companies scale, we aim to create high-quality, high-value jobs and empower them to compete and lead in global markets.”

He added, “Scotland has distinct global strengths in industries such as photonics and fostering the development of companies like Skylark Lasers is key to sustaining their success and driving future growth.”

Skylark’s 349NX single frequency DPSS laser

Skylark Lasers’ technology underpins advanced applications across a range of high-growth sectors. Its single frequency laser systems are used in spectroscopy, optical grating fabrication, quantum sensing, semiconductor materials analysis and inspection, and other applications requiring high quality laser light and stability.

These markets are driven by global demand for greater measurement accuracy, miniaturisation, and efficiency, making Skylark Lasers’ solutions integral to both cutting-edge research and industrial-scale production.

New CEO: Christopher Madin
Earlier this summer, following the investment, Christopher Madin was appointed as CEO during a period of commercial expansion, increased global market engagement, and accelerated innovation across the company’s core product portfolio.

The new funding will provide working capital to expand Skylark Lasers’ commercial team and strengthen its international presence, including the appointment of a Global Sales Manager, renewal of key distributor relationships, and engagement with market development specialists such as Intralink in China and dedicated business development resources for the United States.

“This investment is a pivotal moment for Skylark Lasers,” said Madin. “It will allow us to scale our commercial reach globally while continuing to innovate in our photonics technology. We are proud to have the support of Scottish Enterprise and Par Equity as we take the next step in our growth journey.
