Aliphatic hydrocarbon resin
, also known as C5 petroleum resin or C5 resin, is an important thermoplastic resin. Its physical properties mainly include the following aspects:

1Appearance and Form

It is usually a light yellow or light brown flake or granular solid with a relatively uniform appearance, which makes the aliphatic hydrocarbon resin easy to handle and evenly dispersed in various applications.

2Density

The relative density is usually in the range of 0.97 to 1.07, which gives aliphatic hydrocarbon resin specific advantages in certain applications, such as ease of transportation and storage.

3Molecular weight

The molecular weight of aliphatic hydrocarbon resin is usually low, ranging from 400 to 5000 g/mol, with an average molecular weight in the range of 1000 to 2500. This lower molecular weight gives the resin better fluidity and processability.

4Softening point

The softening point is an important physical property indicator, usually between 70-140 . The softening point of aliphatic hydrocarbon resin directly affects their thermal stability and processing temperature range.

5Refractive index

The refractive index is 1.512, which may have certain significance in optical applications.

6Solubility

Aliphatic hydrocarbon resins are soluble in various organic solvents, such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, ethyl acetate, trichloroethane, cyclohexane, toluene, and solvent gasoline. This good solubility allows the resin to easily mix with various polymers and additives, thus meeting different application needs.

7Other physical properties

It also has excellent properties such as viscosity, increased viscosity, heat resistance, stability, water resistance, and acid and alkali resistance. These properties make aliphatic hydrocarbon resin have broad application prospects in fields such as rubber, coatings, printing inks, and adhesives.

In summary, the physical properties of aliphatic hydrocarbon resin include light yellow or light brown flake or granular appearance, relative density between 0.97 and 1.07, low molecular weight, softening point between 70 and 140 , refractive index of 1.512, good solubility, and various other physical properties. These properties collectively determine the widespread application and importance of aliphatic hydrocarbon resin in multiple fields.
