Recently, nLIGHT launched a new series of ProcessGUARD fiber lasers, which innovatively integrates process monitoring systems with fiber lasers and is committed to providing quality "protection" for applications such as cutting, welding, and additive manufacturing.

New Concept
The nLIGHT ProcessGUARD series fiber laser integrates a photodiode based plasma process monitoring system into the nLIGHT Corona intelligent adjustable spot fiber laser, achieving seamless integration of all fibers. The key innovation points of this product are:

1. Integrate the photodiode sensor into the laser and directly collect the laser radiation signal inside the laser fiber during the processing;
2. Realize seamless internal communication and closed-loop control between lasers and process monitoring systems;
3. No need to import external devices, greatly improving the safety of laser use;
4. Isolate external interference and maximize the accuracy of process monitoring signals.

New Processing

As one of the ways to improve processing efficiency and quality. Nowadays, laser processing has deeply penetrated into major industrial manufacturing. However, complex large-scale manufacturing requires stable process conditions and traceability throughout the entire manufacturing process. An excellent automated online quality monitoring system has become a "must-have" and "essential item" for large-scale manufacturing.

The launch of nLIGHT ProcessGUARD series fiber lasers will enable real-time monitoring of processing quality, plug and play, eliminating the need for free space mirrors and external optical components, while reducing the number of systems that require certification and maintenance during the processing. The unique algorithm and independent optical settings provide more flexibility for system fine-tuning, allowing for the detection of all relevant deviations during specific machining processes. A simplified and graphical user interface, equipped with automatically parameterized algorithm settings, brings more convenience to the initial setup and later process adjustment of the system, making the monitoring of the entire production process more efficient.

  • Scientists develop flat-topped laser beams to overcome Gaussian distribution limitations

    The beam emitted by almost all laser systems follows the Angle pattern of Gaussian distribution. The Gaussian irradiance distribution means that irradiance has a smooth peak at the center point and slowly declines toward the edge. In theory, the irradiance level of a Gaussian distribution can never reach zero, which means that the distribution can expand indefinitely. This phenomenon in the laser ...
