TRUMPF expands its laser cutting portfolio with the acquisition of Cutlite

TRUMPF has announced a strategic cooperation with Cutlite, a Prato-based manufacturer of 2D laser systems, and intends to acquire the operations of Cutlite Penta SpA.

The transaction, which is expected to close in the second half of the year, adds a portfolio of 30-60-kW high-power cutting lasers to TRUMPF's offerings. According to TRUMPF, these solutions aim to replace the highly energy consuming and slow-operating plasma cutting machines widely used in industry today.

The acquisition follows TRUMPF’s acquisition of Mate Precision Technologies, a metal cutting and forming products and solutions company, which the companies announced last month.

TRUMPF said that it plans to enhance Cutlite’s capabilities, expanding the Group's ability to serve the full spectrum of sheet metal fabrication. “This [acquisition] enables us to expand our market presence, leverage combined strengths, and drive industry-leading innovation in fiber laser cutting technology while maintaining the established customer relationships and service quality that define both organizations,” said Tom Schneider, CTO at TRUMPF Machine Tools.

The deal is expected to close later this year.
