Recently, renowned surface coupled laser technology supplier Vector Photonics announced that it has received £ 1.667 million in equity investment and £ 1.27 million in additional research funding for the continued commercialization of its unique surface coupled laser (SCL) technology. Surface coupled lasers have completely changed semiconductor laser manufacturing, improving the performance of various applications such as next-generation data centers, co site optics, artificial intelligence, metal and plastic printing, LiDAR, and optical sensing.

Neil Martin, CEO of Vector Photonics, stated, "Vector Photonics has successfully secured £ 1.667 million in equity investment and £ 1.27 million in additional research projects, bringing its current total funding close to £ 3 million. This provides a strong financial foundation for the continued development and commercialization of the company's unique and revolutionary surface emitting laser technology."

Equity investments come from four companies, all of which have previously invested in Vector Photonics. Foresight WAE Technology (FWT) Fund, UK Innovation and Science Seed Fund (UKI2S), Equity Gap, and Scottish Enterprise. This new research funding includes two development projects. The first one is "FRONTIERS", a £ 670000 revenue generating free space optical development project funded by the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI). The second project, "GRAPHICS," is a £ 600000 UK innovation fund that collaborates with the University of Glasgow to develop expertise in gallium nitride (GaN) material processing. This may result in a 70% lower power consumption of blue and green lasers compared to equivalent LEDs.

Every stock investor is a next-generation technology and early investment expert. FWT funds invest in high growth potential companies with innovative and transformative technologies; UKI2S is a professional deep technology seed fund that focuses on derivative products from research bases in the UK; Equity Gap is an angel investment group that invests in the early stages of new technology enterprises across Scotland; The Scottish Enterprise Board is the national economic development agency in Scotland, committed to transforming the Scottish economy by helping businesses innovate and expand their scale.
