American FMCW LiDAR listed company Aeva receives $50 million investment

Recently, American FMCW LiDAR listed company Aeva announced a strategic partnership with a technology subsidiary of a Fortune Global 500 company to jointly introduce Aeva's fourth generation 4D LiDAR into emerging industrial and consumer markets.

According to the agreement, the tech giant will provide a strategic investment of approximately $50 million to Aeva through subscription of Aeva common stock, revenue from joint product development, and investment in production facilities. The equity portion will enable it to hold approximately 6% of Aeva's shares. This collaboration aims to build mass production capabilities for automotive, industrial, and consumer grade sensing products.

Why can Aeva get this $50 million? What kind of laser companies are currently favored by the capital market?
The saying 'invest with Li, repay with Tao' is also very useful in the business world. In this collaboration with Aeva, the company has also been designated as a secondary manufacturing partner for the previously announced global top ten passenger car OEM projects.

Soroush Salehian, co-founder and CEO of Aeva, stated that this collaboration marks an important milestone in the strong alliance between Aeva and the world's most respected technology manufacturing giant. By integrating the strengths of both parties, we will accelerate the application and landing of the new generation of sensing technology in the industrial, consumer, and automotive fields. This fully validates the leadership of its original technology and confirms the growing market demand for high-performance sensing solutions based on frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) technology.

This is not the first time Aeva has attracted external cooperation due to its technological strength. In May, Aeva announced that its high-precision sensor Eve 1 series for industrial automation has received the first batch of over 1000 orders through partnerships with industry automation leaders such as SICK AG and LMI.

On April 4th, Sensys Gatso Australia, a provider of automated traffic enforcement solutions, has chosen Aeva as its exclusive LiDAR supplier for secondary speed detection in its new mobile speed detection product for Australian public road enforcement solutions.

 



On March 20th, Aeva announced that the top ten global automotive OEMs have awarded Aeva a development project to provide technical support for its next-generation global vehicle platform.

In addition, according to a report by Mims Consulting, industrial sensor supplier SICK is about to start selling products using frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) laser ranging technology, which uses the FMCW on-chip LiDAR sensing module developed by Aeva. Aeva stated that it expects to deliver products to SICK in the first half of 2025.

Mina Rezk, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Aeva, believes that SICK's choice is a recognition of its industry-leading capabilities, versatility, and economies of scale in FMCW LiDAR technology. Aeva is excited about the expansion of cooperation and the potential to jointly disrupt the multi billion dollar precision sensing market.

In addition to forging the hard power of its products, Aeva also focuses on "putting effort" in market layout, which is an important factor in attracting a large investment of $50 million.

On May 1st, Aeva officially released Eve ™  1 series high-precision sensor product line. Its first product Eve 1D is the industry's first laser displacement sensor based on frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) technology, designed for large-scale online industrial scenarios such as factories and process automation. This new product targets the global $4 billion laser displacement sensor market.

Aeva's impressive product strength and strategic market layout brought considerable revenue in the first quarter. In Q1 2025, Aeva's revenue was $3.4 million, a year-on-year increase of over 60%, achieving record breaking product revenue.

At the same time as releasing its first quarter report, Aeva also released its financial outlook for 2025- revenue between $15 million and $18 million, with a year-on-year growth of approximately 70% to 100%. This expectation also demonstrates Aeva's confidence in its own strength and good expectations for the future market.

The "2024-2025 Automotive LiDAR Industry Research Report" released by Zosi Automotive Research shows that LiDAR is experiencing an explosion in both in vehicle and off vehicle fields. Among them, the installed capacity of vehicle mounted LiDAR will soar to 1.529 million in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 245.4%; The penetration rate will rapidly increase to 6.0% by 2024. Behind the data, there may be an important reason why capital favors the laser radar companies represented by Aeva, which may bring new vitality and energy to the laser industry.

Overall, in the face of the current structural changes, laser companies still need to have the patience to polish their products, concentrate on researching the market, and enter the market with hardcore strength and fierce vision. The market's response is always the most authentic, and the companies that can be selected by capital are often a "powerhouse".
