Are you near a bright light or getting direct sunlight? If so, some of these sensors can get a false positive alarm under those conditions. Your laser may have a way to adjust the sensitivity or turn off the alarm entirely although that negates the potential safety aspect of the machine.

Or if you could shield or otherwise move the machine that could also work.
