When using RDVisionWorks for image edge processing, you can follow these steps step by step to obtain clearer and more accurate edge effects:
1. Initialize image processing parameters
Before starting edge extraction, set all image processing parameters to the minimum value (usually 1) or disable them. This helps avoid excessive algorithm interference at the beginning and preserves the original image information as much as possible, providing a clearer base for subsequent edge detection.
2. Set the graphic type and adjust the threshold
If the target is a non-closed graphic, check the “Non-closed graphic” option below. Then gradually adjust the threshold value so that the target outline becomes clearer while minimizing background noise and unnecessary interference, making the main object more prominent.
3. Draw the effective area
Manually draw the effective recognition area in the image and limit the edge extraction range to the target region. This helps reduce the influence of background noise and improves recognition accuracy.
4. Refine edge parameters
Based on the image after adjusting the threshold, gradually adjust parameters such as White Bright Edge, Remove Inner Holes, Edge Removal, and Delete Small Blocks to make the contour cleaner and more continuous while reducing unwanted fragments.
5. Further optimize contour quality
If the result is still not satisfactory, try adjusting options such as Remove Noise Points, Close, Remove Gaps, and Remove Micro Connections. Since materials and image textures vary, different parameters may be required. It is recommended to repeatedly preview the edge extraction and fine-tune the parameters to achieve the best result.
6. Adjust data smoothing
After the edge extraction result generally meets the requirements, adjust the Data Smoothing parameter according to the actual needs to make the final contour smoother and more natural, achieving better processing or recognition results.
