Recently, IPG Photonics, a leading company in the global fiber laser field, announced the official opening of its new office and central technology center in Japan, marking a solid step in the technology giant's strategic deployment in the Asia Pacific region.

The opening of this new office not only demonstrates IPG Photonics' high regard for Japan and the entire Asia Pacific market, but also indicates that its global business map will once again expand.

It is reported that on June 13th and 14th, 229 industry elites from 60 different companies gathered together to witness the brilliant style of IPG's cutting-edge facilities.

On the day of the open day event, IPG's sales elites and senior experts from the application laboratory worked together to carefully plan a unique tour for visitors. They showcased the functions of each room, with a focus on in-depth introductions to their 14 highly specialized application laboratory units, fully demonstrating IPG's profound foundation and innovative strength in fields such as fiber lasers.

Last June, IPG Photonics had already set its sights on a grand plan to establish a new office in Japan. At the groundbreaking ceremony of the Central Japan office, Masaru Muramatsu, President of IPG Photonics Japan, led the team to witness this historic moment together.
In the future, IPG Photonics will strive to increase its market share in Japan and the Asia Pacific region. Its latest first quarter financial report shows that the company's revenue for the quarter was $252 million, with sales declining in all major regions: the Chinese market decreased by 38%, the North American market decreased by 16%, the European market decreased by 21%, and Japan also decreased by 23%.

The smooth operation of the new office will provide strong support for IPG Photonics' in-depth expansion in the Japanese market.
It is reported that the new building under construction in Japan covers an area of over 3500 square meters. In the future, this office will become another iconic business hub for IPG Photonics in the Asia Pacific region.

With the official opening of its new office in Japan, IPG Photonics' strategic layout in the Asia Pacific market has begun to take shape.

IPG Photonics is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance fiber lasers, amplifiers, and fiber laser systems for CNC welding and cutting. Its low, medium, and high-power lasers and amplifiers are used in material processing, communication, entertainment, medical, biotechnology, science, and advanced applications. 16 global application laboratories can provide process development and local support.

IPG sells its products to global OEM manufacturers, system integrators, and end-users who have internal engineering capabilities in a wide range of different markets and can integrate IPG's products into their own systems.

The establishment of the new office in Japan will further strengthen its team, enhance the overall competitiveness of IPG Photonics in the Japanese market, and also benefit IPG Photonics in providing more convenient and efficient services to customers and partners in the region, bringing more innovation and progress to the industry.

In addition to IPG, it is reported that several laser companies have already explored and cultivated the Japanese market:
Recently, high-power blue light laser technology manufacturer NUBURU announced that its distributor Japan Laser Company (JLC) in Japan has installed the state-of-the-art NUBURU BL250 BlueScan system at JLC's Osaka office, which will be used to demonstrate micro welding and wire stripping to strategic electronic and medical equipment customers in the Japanese market.

In 2023, Coherent, a supplier of laser technology and processing systems in the United States, and Mitsubishi Electric, a well-known Japanese manufacturing company, announced that they had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and reached a project cooperation. Mitsubishi Electric will mass produce silicon carbide chips using Coherent 200mm wafer technology in the Japanese market.

In 2012, Tongkuai Group officially entered the Japanese market and began production of disc lasers in Yokohama, Japan.
More than 20 years ago, Japan was still one of the major producers of photonics. The first laser in Japan was developed in 1960, and the country has gathered optoelectronic and mechanical equipment companies such as Hamamatsu Photonics, Mitsubishi Electric, Amada, Mazak, Koga Electric, Sony, and Tokyo Optoelectronics.
