Zygo Corporation, a business unit of AMETEK, announced that it will be showcased at the D28 booth of the Space Comm Expo held in Farnborough, UK from March 6th to 7th this year.

Space Comm showcases the end-to-end supply chain of products, services, and applications that provide information and technological development for commercial aerospace enterprises, governments, and defense organizations, providing an ideal platform for Zygo to showcase its market leading position as a provider of 3D optical metrology instruments and optical component manufacturers.

Peter Kuschnir, Sales Manager of Zygo Europe, said, "We are delighted to participate in this year's Space Communications Expo held in the UK, where the UK has shown significant government supported growth in the commercial aerospace industry. More than 50 years ago, Zygo was founded to provide customized optical and precision engineering systems for optical manufacturing. As a natural extension of its optical manufacturing business, the company quickly became synonymous with positioning and surface analysis metrology.". Zygo's 3D optical profilometer and laser interferometer are at the ultra precision end of measuring spectra, targeting high-value applications, and have a considerable footprint in the commercial aerospace field. Among them, high-performance 3D measurement is the key to process development and manufacturing yield.

The key mission optical components used in satellites and other commercial space-based optical devices require attention to detail at every stage of the product development process. This requires customers and suppliers to establish a genuine partnership, and optical component suppliers to have the necessary professional knowledge and experience in DfM and quality control to produce the best results. Zygo is at the forefront of precision optical component supply and welcomes Space Comm attendees to discuss its lineage in strict space applications.

Kuschnir summarized, "Commercial space optical devices must be able to survive launch, and of course, must perform well in challenging space environments. With decades of practical experience, Zygo has proven that it can produce sturdy and highly stable optical devices that can withstand launch loads and maintain high performance in orbit.". In order to overcome the challenges posed by the typical dynamic thermal environment in low Earth orbits, Zygo designed optical components that are non thermal and heat-resistant over a wide temperature range. In order to cope with high vacuum and ionizing radiation environments, we also have profound professional knowledge to choose suitable glass, structural materials, and design methods to meet the lifelong goals of space optics. All of these can be achieved on the basis of commercial costs and on a monthly rather than annual basis.

Zygo's work in manufacturing optical components for space applications has recently been strengthened, and it has announced the nomination of Karen Nyberg as its brand ambassador. Zygo is responsible for polishing and testing the windows used by the International Space Station.

Invited attendees will meet with the Zygo team at booth D28 of the 2024 Space Com Expo.
