Recently, SuperLight Photonics, a leading laser technology manufacturer, announced that it has received strategic investment from global venture capital firm Hamamatsu Ventures, which will be used to promote long-term innovation and collaborative development of its laser technology.

Hamamatsu Ventures focuses on investing in photonics companies that address future demand expectations, particularly those with disruptive photonics technologies and the potential to redefine the industry.

This collaboration will inject strong momentum into the development of SuperLight Photonics' next-generation photonics technology and help it increase its global market share.

Cees Links, CEO of SuperLight Photonics, said, "The collaboration with Hamamatsu Ventures is an important milestone for us. Their support not only validates the enormous potential of our technology, but also enhances our rapid scalability and innovation capabilities, enabling us to better meet the global customer demand for innovative photonics solutions. We look forward to leveraging their industry knowledge and network to push our breakthrough products into new markets.

Katsuhiro Kobayashi, CEO of Hamamatsu Venture Capital, also highly recognized this collaboration, stating, "As a strategic investor, we will provide business expertise in our areas of expertise and seek to create synergies to drive collaborative research and joint development. We are committed to establishing long-term, supportive partnerships with portfolio companies. SuperLight Photonics' breakthrough technology is highly aligned with our investment focus on shaping future technologies, and we believe it has the potential to change a wide range of industries.

Supercontinuous medium laser, also known as broadband laser, can provide high bandwidth while maintaining high coherence and low noise. Looking at current industrial solution products, they are often large and heavy, have limited environmental robustness, and require high power. However, SuperLight Photonics has effectively reversed this situation.

SuperLight Photonics has achieved efficient applications in nonlinear pulse compression with its patented PAD (Patterned Alternating Dispersion) technology. This technology is based on the photonic integrated circuit (PIC) platform, which significantly reduces the packaging processing requirements compared to similar lasers.

As part of the strategic investment, David Castrillo, Business Development Manager of EU-CVC, will join the SuperLight Photonics Advisory Committee and serve as a liaison. David has over 30 years of experience in the optics industry at Hamamatsu, bringing valuable expertise and insights to SuperLight Photonics, enhancing the company's vision and direction.

With this new investment, SuperLight Photonics will focus on expanding team size, enhancing production capacity, and driving innovation in its product portfolio. The company plans to expand into new geographical markets and establish closer partnerships with global distributors, OEMs, and major industry participants.

SuperLight Photonics, headquartered in Enschede, Netherlands, is a pioneering Dutch company spun off from the University of Twente. The company is developing broadband laser sources for measurement and detection applications and is committed to becoming a leading enterprise in the field of broadband lasers. Its platform technology provides various application solutions for the biomedical, industrial, scientific, food, and agricultural markets, including OCT, spectroscopy, microscopy, tomography, and metrology.

SuperLight Photonics is at the forefront of creating photonic integrated circuit (PIC) solutions, leveraging the momentum of the optoelectronics industry to make significant contributions to a technologically advanced and sustainable future.

As a leading global manufacturer of optoelectronic components and systems, Hamamatsu Photonics has always adhered to the corporate philosophy of promoting the development of photonics through extensive research, producing the most advanced products covering the entire spectrum, providing solutions for various applications such as analysis, consumer, industrial, and medical instruments.

As a global venture capital firm under the Hamamatsu Photonics umbrella, Hamamatsu Venture Capital focuses on developing disruptive photonics technologies to meet future expectations and potentially redefine the industry.
