Laser Fires and Focus’s but wont burn

I have a hobby 3018 running a 20W laser module.
Everting seemed to be working great, allowing me to slowly review the YouTube tutorials to learn more. I’ve been concentrating on setting up a material test to find the best outcome using 3mm ply. Anyhow - long story short. My laser fires and I can manually focus it. It burns the ply when i fire the laser and burns into the ply when I move the X/Y manually with the laser still fired. I can clearly see lines the burned into the ply, however when I run the material test, the laser fires but fails to burn. Although I have not adjusted anything, I have now set the laser to 100% but it still wont burn - even though the laser is on. Any thoughts? What info do you need grom me to help. Thanks.

There may have been some sort of mistake before. This would be absurdly fast for a 20W diode laser.
Continue to slow down.
One thing to check is that the value of S Value Max in Edit->Device Settings matches the value of $30 in Edit->Machine Settings. What are these values? If they differ then change S Value Max to match $30.
