Simple Smart Window Opener with ESP8266 Control

This is a low-cost, easy-to-build smart-home window opener designed to open your window slowly and reliably. The mechanism mounts to the top of the window frame with screws, but the design intentionally leaves no visible screw holes when removed in the future. It is built primarily from repurposed parts, making it an economical and sustainable project. The motor drives an M6 threaded rod at a slow but steady pace, and a modern stepper driver is recommended for quieter operation compared to the older A4988. Required components include 3D-printed parts (coupler, nut-holder, case), laser-cut parts from 5mm material, an M6 rod and nut, M3 screws and nuts, a Nema 17 stepper motor, a Wemos D1 Mini or other small ESP8266 board, an A4988 or compatible stepper driver, a step-down converter for the ESP, and a 12V power supply. This opener is ideal for hobbyists and makers seeking a functional, customizable smart-home upgrade.
