Recently, exail (formerly iXblue) announced the acquisition of Leukos, an optical company specializing in providing advanced laser sources for metrology, spectroscopy, and imaging applications.

Leukos was founded by the French XLIM Institute (a joint research department of the French National Academy of Sciences and the University of Limoges), with over 20 years of professional experience in the research and development of high-tech products such as pulsed micro lasers, supercontinuum laser sources, and ultrafast fiber lasers.

This acquisition strengthens Exail's technological capabilities in the field of optics and marks another important milestone in the group's development. By combining Leukos' advanced technology with exail's expertise in specialty fibers, modulators, micro optical components, and quantum systems, the group can increase product supply and expand solutions to address new markets including biophotonics and microelectronics.

Leukos will operate as a subsidiary of Exail, retaining its brand and product portfolio to ensure continuity for customers and partners.

Leukos specializes in supercontinuum spectrum lasers, also known as white light lasers, supercontinuum lasers, and supercontinuum light sources. The emergence of supercontinuum has injected new possibilities into the research of nonlinear fiber optics. The supercontinuum spectrum generated by Leukos using photonic crystal fiber technology is a novel light source with high output power, flat broadband spectrum, and high spatial coherence. The supercontinuum laser can widen the spectral measurement range while reducing measurement time and greatly improving signal-to-noise ratio. The main application areas of Leukos supercontinuum light source include interferometers, fiber attenuation measurements, spectroscopic analysis, optical frequency combs, and so on.

At present, Leukos' products include: 0.8-4.8 μ m mid infrared supercontinuum laser, 320-1750nm ultraviolet coverage supercontinuum laser, 400-2400nm supercontinuum white light source, CARS specific supercontinuum laser, microchip laser, etc.

Like exail, Leukos' values also prioritize customer satisfaction, emphasizing technological innovation and teamwork. I believe that the technological integration in different segmented fields can spark different sparks and inject new vitality into exail's continuous innovation and development.

Guillaume Huss, CEO of Leukos, said, "This is an excellent opportunity for Leukos to better develop. Becoming a part of exail and leveraging exail's mature technology, we can clearly foresee new directions for product development innovation in the future. Joining exail will also help accelerate our commercial development.

Fabien Napolitano, CEO of Exail, said, "We warmly welcome Leukos to the Exail family. This acquisition can expand our product portfolio, accelerate innovation, strengthen our global influence, and perfectly align with our optical strategy. We will work together to provide cutting-edge solutions for scientific and industrial customers worldwide. At the same time, the group will strongly support Leukos in exploring new markets.
