Recently, relevant information shows that Shenzhen Han's Lithium Battery Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. (referred to as Han's Lithium Battery) has won the bid for the solid-state battery pilot line testing section process equipment project and solid-state battery pilot line assembly section process equipment project of Dongfeng Hongtai Holdings Group Co., Ltd. The winning bid amounts are 9.3847 million yuan and 8.5386 million yuan, respectively.

Han's Lithium Battery was founded in 2018 and is a subsidiary of Han's Laser, a leading company in the laser industry. It is also a global leader in power and energy storage battery equipment, with products covering battery energy storage components such as lithium batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, and solid-state batteries.

In recent years, the explosion of the new energy vehicle market has greatly driven the demand for lithium batteries in the industry. However, since the second half of 2023, the demand for new energy vehicles has continued to slow down, mainly due to the sluggish demand before the popularization of new energy vehicles, which led to explosive growth and formed a supply-demand gap.

In this context, after experiencing rapid capacity expansion from 2018 to 2022, the power battery industry has also entered a new stock cycle, and phased and structural overcapacity is an inevitable law of industry development. Currently, both the supply and demand sides are facing a dual dilemma. The power battery industry has continued to lower prices and reduce inventory throughout the year, and the expansion pace of various domestic power battery manufacturers has slowed down to varying degrees, which in turn has affected lithium battery equipment suppliers.

The performance of major lithium battery equipment giants in the laser industry in the first half of this year reflects this trend, with a significant decline in order volume, a sharp slowdown in profit growth, and even some companies suffering losses of billions of yuan. Of course, Han's Laser is no exception.

According to Han's Laser's 2024 semi annual financial report, the company's new energy equipment business achieved a revenue of 696 million yuan in the first half of the year, a year-on-year decrease of 39.65%. Although detailed performance data for its lithium battery business has not been disclosed separately, it can still be seen that the overall performance is not ideal. However, in the current competitive landscape of the "internal competition" in the new energy industry, Han's lithium batteries have keenly seized opportunities in emerging markets.

As the density of existing liquid lithium-ion batteries approaches the theoretical limit, solid-state batteries are becoming the mainstream direction for the future development of lithium-ion batteries. Although the mass production of all solid state batteries still takes some time, many battery giants have already taken the lead in layout, and the industrialization process of solid state batteries is also accelerating globally. If Japan, South Korea, and European and American countries achieve mass production first, China's battery industry will face severe challenges and impacts. This seemingly gradual process has actually entered an urgent countdown stage, where those who seize the initiative can enjoy the market dividends first.

As the market gradually heats up for solid-state batteries. Domestic laser companies have also intensified their market layout, and recently several giants have made significant progress.

Han's Lithium Battery won the bid for the solid-state battery pilot line testing section process equipment project and solid-state battery pilot line assembly section process equipment project of Dongfeng Hongtai Holdings Group Co., Ltd., with bid amounts of 9.3847 million yuan and 8.5386 million yuan respectively.

Haimuxing Laser and Jiangsu Xinjie, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xinjie Energy, signed an Equipment Procurement Framework Contract on August 9th, and reached an agreement on Jiangsu Xinjie's purchase of battery automation production line equipment from the company. Jiangsu Xinjie plans to purchase 2GWH battery automation production line equipment from Haimuxing Laser, with an estimated equipment procurement amount of about 400 million yuan.

In June 2024, Tianhong Laser invested in the billion yuan Pre-A round of financing for Heyuan Lithium to accelerate its layout in the field of solid-state battery equipment. Heyuan Lithium Creation is a domestic company that focuses on the research and development of new generation lithium battery technology and product providers. Since its establishment, it has successfully developed the first generation of 350Wh/Kg solid-state battery products with high safety and energy density characteristics, and has passed national standard testing and battery needle puncture tests smoothly.

In addition, Tianhong Laser has obtained a supply order for solid-state battery production equipment from Shandong Jinqihang New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. by the end of 2023, becoming one of its core suppliers for the production line.

Liyuanheng's solid-state battery business began relevant layout as early as 2020, and has successfully developed a dry electrode core equipment project with completely independent intellectual property rights, and has obtained certification for multiple invention patents and utility model patents. At present, the production line provided by Liyuanheng for Qingtao Energy has officially entered the mass production stage. At the same time, it has also delivered a semi-solid state battery pilot production line device to Guoxuan High tech, and joined hands with GAC Aion to jointly develop an all solid state battery assembly line equipment project.
