Changes to project while burning

If I make changes to my project while the laser is running, do those changes happen right away?
Sometimes I’d like to tweek some of my layout but have been waiting for the burn to end to do it which means I spend time waiting. Just wondering if I need to worry about it.
I’m assuming the software compiles the gcode with the original layout and starts the burn so changes would have no effect until the next run. Maybe I’m wrong?

      Your assumption is correct - layout changes will not affect a job already in progress.
