Recently, the team led by Professor Li Zhiyuan from South China University of Technology has successfully developed a full spectrum white light laser, which has the characteristics of bright spot, smooth and flat spectrum, and large pulse energy. It can cover the ultraviolet visible infrared full spectrum of 300-5000nm, with a single pulse energy of 0.54mJ.

The launch of such a full spectrum white light laser can be used to construct ultra fast spectroscopy detection technology for the full spectrum, which is expected to push laser technology to the world's leading level and better serve cutting-edge research.

Based on this achievement, the research team will further construct a full spectrum ultra fast spectroscopy detection equipment, which is expected to carry out ultra fast and precise detection of physical, chemical, and life processes in multiple bands within the substance, thereby achieving the technical capability of high-speed spectroscopy, and further used for research in two-dimensional materials, lithium-ion batteries, chemical catalysis, and other fields.

The spectroscopic techniques involved in this study can cover the electronic transition absorption spectra of atoms and molecules in the deep ultraviolet visible band, as well as the interband electronic transition absorption spectra of semiconductors in the near-infrared band, and molecular vibrations in the mid infrared band.

This can create a new spectroscopic detection method, and for those new phenomena and laws that cannot be revealed using traditional methods, this new approach has great hope of filling the relevant gaps.
